All my enamel work begins as a sheet of metal (copper or silver). After each shape is cut, the fun part starts. Layers of colorful enamel (powdered glass) are added and fired in my kiln at 1450°F. Depth, space, and pattern slowly begin to emerge

These are oxidized sterling silver. Oxidization is the process of blackening a metal. When the piece comes out of the oxidation solution it is completely black! I then remove some of the oxidation with fine steel wool- I like the 'fleeced' texture it
